Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious airborne infection that usually affects the lungs. It can, however, also affect other parts of the body such as the brain, kidneys and spine. TB is caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The most common symptom of active TB disease is a cough that lasts three weeks or longer.
