The rind of the citrus bergamia (bergamot orange) fruit is used to make bergamot essential oil. This citrus fruit is mostly grown in southern Italy, although it's also grown in Greece, Turkey, and the Ivory Coast. Cold-pressing is used to extract the essential oil from the fruit's rind. Bergamot essential oil smells citrusy, flowery, and spicy. Bergamot essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy because of its numerous potential health benefits.
