Expedia has grown to become one of many large travel brands under the Expedia Group designation. I have almost never been able to find a better price direct. Expedia prices are usually 10-20% cheaper than booking directly with the hotel. And if you can find a coupon code online you can get up to 25% discount compared to direct hotel websites.
