A dynamic hip screw (DHS) is a surgery using a metal device for femur neck fractures by placing a large screw in the head of the femur and attaching a plate with smaller screws. This procedure promotes healing by allowing the femur neck to impact the femoral metaphysis. The DHS can also be used with a trochanter stabilization plate (TSP) to prevent fracture collapse. Side effects may include bleeding, pain, blood clots, and infection.
