When the living goddess Kumari grows up and retires from her role, she's given a special ceremony to mark the end of her time as a goddess. After that, she's free to live a normal life, but she's still revered and respected as a former Kumari. Many former Kumaris go on to lead normal lives, getting married and having children, while others continue to be involved in spiritual and cultural activities. Despite no longer being the living goddess, they're still considered to be special and blessed individuals.
